I had a Jackson Soloist that was barely stamped at all and they used a small font so it was almost unreadable until I grabbed a digital camera, zoomed in then clarified it in an image processing app. It's possible it was sanded off for quick sale at a pawn place that wasn't super ethical but it's also possible it wasn't stamped all that deep in the first place. Sometimes the serial number is echoed in one of those places. You also might want to look in the tremelo cavity in the back of the guitar, the electronics compartment or inside the trussrod cover. Other potential places the serial could be: That being said, the electronics - you say they're silly - is it not working or are some of the pickups not working or is it producing a lot of noise? That's a great guitar though - it's definitely a different animal than a telecaster but you don't need to make it into a hardtail - you could just block the trem.Īny competent tech could make it so it's dive-bomb only instead of floating but learning how to restring a guitar with a floyd style trem is not hard and it's kind of a rite of passage for many. I have a couple very high end guitars my dad left me (1974 Les Paul custom, and 1980 ES-335), but neither guitar is my thing, and I wouldn't want to take them out of the house for obvious reasons.

I was thinking of selling it if that's the case, and taking the money to buy the very guitar my dad wanted to buy me (telecaster), which is ironically the giutar I would like to use to start doing open mic stuff. He seems to think this thing is worth like a grand or so. He wanted to buy me an American standard telecastor, and like a turd, I didn't want it because anything he wanted me to do was dumb when I was that age LOL.Īpparently, this guitar is worth money now according to a friend of mine that's played all these years that's more up to date with all this stuff.

This was actually my first electric guitar, and I picked it out despite my dad (who was a professional musician and is now passed away) telling me to avoid it for all the reasons I ended up not liking it when I started playing in rock bands a few years later. I recently got back into playing guitar again, and I never play this guitar because it's got a Floyd Rose on it, active pickups, sucks to change strings etc. It was like $250 in the 90's when buttrock guitars were the kiss of death during the peak of the whole grunge thing.įast forward many years later.

My dad got it for me for my birthday at a pawn shop.
